Artist Edward B. Leaman of Hallowell, Maine and Gloucester, MA is a self-taught artist of color and Character of shear brilliance that lights the hearts of all eyes leaving happiness and a true feeling of a style of his own. His paintings are characters in the style of Matisse, Chagall, Picasso and many other great artists.  To simplify it, Leaman refers to his works as “Eddies”. There are no others that have the richness of understanding of color and love that gives laughter and happiness both to the young and old.
Over the past 30 years, he has quietly created many series and subjects of works (mostly acrylic on paper, canvas and rarely, on card board) which hang all over the world.  “The Poet”, as he is also known, creates sculptures of special materials.
Leaman combination of palette and perspectives create a child-like freshness and freedom to his paintings.  Using vivid colors and whimsical figures, Leaman’s style is truly unique and allows us to distinguish his work in an instant.
Ed has been dabbling in poetry since his late teens. What started as a relaxing way to spend time transformed it’s self into numerous works of art. His poetry is words of movement, creating vivid colors, sounds, and realities that capture the imagination of the reader. His Poetry has been compared to works of Apollinaire, E.E. Cummings and other 20th Century poets “schooled” in the stream of consciousness.”
